Prairie Style divided lites create a delicate crisscrossed border with a larger expanse of glass in the middle. Part of an eclectic aesthetic, this fanciful design arose from the influence of Japanese visual culture during the late Victorian era. Made popular during the Arts and Crafts Movement at the end of 19th and beginning of the 20th century, spiderweb windows are an eccentric detail added to full- or half-circle windows. Often paired with casement windows, the diamond divided lite design is a common feature on Tudor Revival inspired homes. Your home is your castle and equally deserving of these valuable elements. Some of the earliest diamond-patterned windows were showcased in medieval churches and castles. Diamondsĭiamonds may be a girl’s best friend, and they also can bring jewel-like sparkle to your home. Here are 15 examples of creative divided lite patterns that are sure to inspire your design: 1. Matching your home’s authentic style, divided lite profiles can be selected with beveled, ovolo, square or triangular shapes, and fashioned into custom patterns, whether traditional, historical or contemporary. Mirroring this element, spacer bars are inserted between the full-size glass panes to enhance the depth and dimension of this architectural detail. Simulating the look of individual panes, windows with PDL have divided lite bars on the interior and exterior surface of the glass. Now, you still can specify true divided lites (TDL) with muntin bars that physically separate the glass panes for historically authentic properties. But by pairing this desirable appearance with modern engineering, you also have the option of performance divided lites (PDL) to replicate this aesthetic, while optimizing performance. The shape, pattern and number of divided lites changed as technology advanced. No longer are they a necessity, but rather, a creative choice. Centuries ago, these large lites were unimaginable. Windows had to be composed of numerous individual panes of glass glazed into a supporting grid of muntin bars. Today, single sheets of glass are available at enormous sizes.

=The Infernal Armor should be crafted as soon as you have enough Blue Lifeforce, leaving the area you are in the second you have it. =I would suggest crafting the Elemental Armor when you get the resources, as it increases Poison Resistance, which quickly becomes incredibly useful. Both Elemental Armor and Infernal Armor are just improvements, adding to your health with no drawbacks. While this may sound important, I found 45 to be more than enough, often cluttering the battlefield. The Infernal Commander increases your Horde Size by 5, making it the only way to control 50 minions at once. The Evil Eye is ESSENTIAL to the farming of Lifeforce, as it doubles all gathered Lifeforce. Many of the weapons choices in the Forge are rather extraneous, leading to the wholesale wasting of the limited Crystalized Evil. You will lose most of the resources you are trying to gather. So when using the Gnome Spawner, do not just use a banner. =Note that Minions on a banner will NOT collect resources on the ground and bring it back to you. So, if you're situated some place where you need your minions to farm, hold the button for sending them forward (R2 on DS4) then unplug the controller, it should continue sending them to kill gnomes and collect whatever resource they are stationed next to. If you are using the right type of controller (like a DS4 connected through DS4Windows), if you unplug the controller while holding a button, it will continue to act as if the button is connected until you plug it back in. As stated above, the Everlight Facility is an endless source of Pink Gems. On a destruction playthrough, the gold in the Everlight Temple should still exist, and still respawn every time you enter the zone. A rotation through the 3 can net you several thousand gold every time, and takes almost no time at all. The same can be said of Everlight City, as well as Everlight Temple. On a domination runthrough, after the assault of Nordburg, the city has a pile of chests that spawn next to the gate inside of the city, which can make for quick cash. While more active than the 3 options above, you can slay all the gnomes, then leave and return to the area, to get a lot of Lifeforce After finishing The Final Sanctuary, all of the gnome holes should respawn. I suggest the large bar in the northwestern corner of the city, where you can send minions around behind the bar, as well as up it, to get a steady supply of all flavors of Lifeforce They spray out booze, leveled arms and armor for your minions, and all available Lifeforce types. After the assault on Everlight City, numerous open bars can be run by dominated citizens. Park the 5 Red minions on a banner on the button, stand in the open doorway beside it, point at the break in the fence across the way, you will have as many gnomes as you need, which drop infinite Green and Red Lifeforce at a good speed, as well as Pink Gems that are used in crafting Bringing 5 reds and a bunch of Brown minions, you can find an easy to access spawner just inside the front door, and to the left. After beating The Everlight Facility, the Gnome Spawners remain intact. On a domination run through, near the lake, a patch of ground with spawning seals will become available, giving you a healthy collection or Red and (less frequently) Brown Lifeforce. After the assault on Nordburg, back behind the town hall is an area that was blocked off during the fight. Smiths even have a slight chance of creating arms and armor that are rare drops off of enemies where you are at in the story. Doing so with each type of minion should net you a nearly maxed out combat potential percentage, for whatever point in the game you are at. I found 2 times through often ended up with every minion fully armed from nothing. Nordburg is a great place to make sure all of your minions are armed, if you are doing a domination runthrough: Get a full squad of a single minion type, so that your reinforcements are armed, then run a cycle through each of the blacksmithing areas. Dominated citizens will ignore the spell, while free citizens will scream and flail, making them easier to spot. Missing 1 or 2 last citizens on dominating a city? Make sure you've entered every available building, and try firing Evil Presence into every crowd in the game. For Everlight, wait for the Elven Rebellion quest, after the Salamander section. For Nordburg, you have to wait until you unlock all 4 minion types. You cannot completely destroy or dominate a city when you first unlock the quest to do so. These are powerful utilities that can enhance a lot of your work across most apps and devices, but we’ll introduce them through the lens of Bear, snippets, and templates. The final stop on our automation adventures is the domain of third-party apps like TextExpander, Alfred, and Keyboard Maestro. We had to ZIP this for reasons, so we recommend downloading this on a Mac since iOS still isn’t great at handling ZIP files.ĭownload sample Bear note Powerful paid apps Download a sample Bear note that includes examples of a few of these URLs in action. Your automation is then wrapped into a simple URL that you can use in a Bear note, a snippet, or from other apps. Our URL creator offers a lot of flexibility to automatically create a new note, append text to an existing note, build custom search actions, add timestamps, change Bear’s theme, and more. It requires a basic understanding of how dev tools like this work, but it’s pretty powerful. It’s a simple web interface, built on the same x-callback-url standard supported by Apple’s Shortcuts and many third-party apps. We built a tool for creating your own Bear automations. Typing that will automatically expand the full URL in most apps across all our devices, including in Bear, Tweetbot, email apps, Safari, documents, you name it. For example, since we often share the link to our Siri Shortcuts doc, we created a snippet to insert that URL anywhere we type b.siri. There, you can create your snippets and add triggers. macOS has built-in support for keyboard snippets On a Mac, it’s System Preferences > Keyboard > Text. On iPad and iPhone, go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Text Replacement. They’re great for everything from links you regularly share, to email replies and signatures, and that killer emoji combo.įortunately, your devices have support for basic text snippets built right in, and they work great in Bear. If you aren’t familiar, text snippets are chunks of frequently used text that can be inserted with a simple keyword or trigger. As always, be mindful of where you download Shortcuts, and you should be fine. Apple requires this step because shortcuts can be pretty powerful, but it isn’t able to review them for safety and privacy. Then, head to Settings > Shortcuts and tap Allow Untrusted Shortcuts. If you download a shortcut from galleries like RoutineHub or Sharecuts, try running it once. To use them, you might have to flip a switch in Settings. Note: Anyone can share Shortcuts they’ve made, just like we did above. To find Bear’s available Shortcuts, open the Shortcuts app on an iPad or iPhone with Bear installed, create a new Shortcut, then search for Bear. Add a voice command via Siri Shortcuts, and now you’re down to zero taps! You can append new content to a specific note, look up untagged notes, create new notes from other apps, and much more. Going even further, Bear has a variety of Siri Shortcuts that can improve your workflow. It was such a milestone for me to show at RunwayX by Afterpay, and it felt extra special knowing that we were giving others the opportunity to walk a runway for their first time as well,” LoCascio shared. “ With my New York roots being an important part of the brand’s DNA, the open casting call enabled us to involve the local community and include everyday people that represent our brand in my first runway show. The formalwear was unexpectedly paired with more casual outerwear like faux-fur jackets, knit sweaters and jacquard coats.ĭesigner Colin LoCascio hosted an open casting call in partnership with Afterpay. “Each piece we adopt into our family gets to shine again and go out in the world-showing that good design and craftsmanship are long lasting.”īelow, see more of the summer’s best vintage fashion moments thus far.AKNVAS brought ruffles to a new level with a colorful collection of tiered ruffle dresses and gowns. While many stars are choosing to collect their vintage pieces, Yana Kamps-a curator for Paumé-says renting such designs is another way for old designs to shine through. It was sourced from Paumé Los Angeles, which has an extensive rental collection of vintage designer pieces including Halstons and Muglers from the 1980s. Just last week, meanwhile, Natalie Portman also plucked a zingy orange Claude Montana skirt suit from fall 1991, to wear to a Thor: Love and Thunder photocall in Rome, Italy. The line between what garments end up in a museum versus retailer is blurred, but most celebrities do seem keen on respecting and maintaining the integrity of the original designs. Singer Dove Cameron also wore a 1997 Versace lace gown-with thin, bowed straps-to the Tribeca Film Festival, sourced from Tab Vintage. More recent examples from June include Ariana DeBose’s vintage John Galliano embroidered dress, worn to the season 4 premiere of Westworld and sourced from Shrimpton Couture (which specializes in vintage evening gowns). It’s no wonder, then, that many stylists are sourcing and purchasing vintage dresses from specialty retailers, versus taking priceless ones from museums out on loan. President” dress from 1962-wearing a vintage dress, even for just a few moments, can cause irreversible damage. As evidenced by Kim Kardashian at this year’s Met Gala-when she wore Marilyn Monroe’s “Happy birthday, Mr. Plucking these archival designs isn’t without its obvious challenges, however. A year prior, the legendary Rita Moreno re-wore her 1962 Oscars gown to the same event. In 2019, for instance, rapper Cardi B wore a 1995 Mugler couture creation to the 2019 Grammys, while actor Gwyneth Paltrow chose a 1963 Valentino column gown for the Emmys. It’s been a growing movement over the past few years. Of course, celebrities wearing vintage on the step and repeat is not just a trend specific to summer 2022. will always be my first choice when possible.” The powerhouse stylist is also responsible for the tiered, balloon-sleeved Chanel fall 1986 gown that Bella Hadid wore to the Venice Film Festival in May-a striking Karl Lagerfeld-designed piece that was sourced from Sielian Vintage. It was styled by Law Roach, who once said, “Vintage and archival dressing isn’t a trend for me. The streamlined silhouette-complete with woven blue and teal paneling-felt surprisingly fresh on the actor. One of the first megawatt celebrities to embrace the throwback trend was Zendaya in early June, when she attended the Time 100 Gala in New York City wearing a strapless Bob Mackie gown from the label’s fall 1998 collection. But while A-listers typically pull their pieces fresh off the runway, this season they’ve been digging into the archives and reviving vintage looks. Turns out, the perfect summer dresses for 2022 are from decades past! Stars like Zendaya, Natalie Portman, and Bella Hadid have been making appearances on summer’s red carpets in sweet outfits that are perfect for the warmer months. Here, 40 creative retaining wall ideas that are a step above the rest. “Steep surfaces almost always have to have some sort of intervention in one way or another.” Retaining wall materials including concrete blocks, bricks, wall stones, railroad ties, or treated timbers-allowing for plenty of hardscaping options that suit your house. “Flatter and uniformed surfaces are more expensive than steep ones,” Lobeira says. What’s more, creating a retaining wall can boost the value of your house. “Many retaining walls end up as garden or terrace backdrops,” he adds. These builds can even double as seats or corral all your backyard greenery in a neat landscape.Īesthetically, a retaining wall can turn an unworkable incline on the land into usable, uniformed surfaces, notes Mauricio Lobeira, Monterrey, Mexico-based architect, interior designer and cofounder of Ten Plus Three. “They can also be used to create topographic interest or create smaller features, such as raised garden beds,” says Collin Koonce, director of landscape architecture and urban planning at BKV Group, a holistic architectural design firm, based in Washington, D.C. You might think that retaining wall ideas are all about function-after all, retaining walls prevent soil erosion and reduce the risk of flooding-but they are not all utility these structures can enhance an outdoor space by creating levels, evening out a hillside, and even using pavers to produce a pathway. “Though retaining walls are most commonly used to create a functional area out of a sloped terrain, they do serve other functions.” “At the basic level, a retaining wall is a structure that holds or retains soil behind it,” explains Joe Raboine, director of Belgard Residential Hardscapes, an outdoor hardscapes company. That is, if you’re talking about retaining wall ideas in your landscape design. Your point is well-taken about rebar keeping walls from tipping.Putting up walls can be a good thing. At the same time, my impression is one can realistically expect only 10-15 good years out of timber-constructed steps/walls, and maybe another 5-10 years with repairs or "tolerable" rot.Īt the moment I'm leaning towards timber steps and concrete walls, but sort of go back and forth. For a small yard in what will eventually become a rental property, it is difficult to justify and afford the cost. Pressure-treated landscape timbers are not good for your garden, since they’re in contact with the soil all the time. So choose pressure-treated landscape timbers carefully. If they’re not, you’ll risk compromising the integrity of the wood. We will probably be leaving the home in a year or two and at that point it will become a rental property, so there is obviously an attraction to "set it and forget it." At the same time, the cost (especially hiring out) of concrete or stone is astronomical, especially in this area. Pressure-treated landscape timbers are also likely to be cut to fit your project. We have retaining walls to do as well, which also factor into the wood vs concrete debate. My wife and I keep going back and forth about this for the backyard. Your point about organic vs mineral is well-taken. Larger diameter would require the sledge.boo. If one steps up to pipe instead of rebar, is an equivalent diameter of pipe stronger? What kind of pipe would be best for ACQ contact? One advantage of rebar is I could drive them pretty deep fairly easily with a SDS-max hammer and ground rod driver. I expect San Francisco is more forgiving than Seattle in regards to wood rot but Phoenix would probably be the type climate best suited for wood longevity. My suggestion is to consider constructing steps with flat rocks, pavers or other mineral material and not use organic material. It was still in the original installed position. One 15' timber was used as a wheel stop for cars turning around in the driveway. Pre-treated options help ensure the wood will last up to seven years without needing to be replaced. The portion of the rebar in the ground is in poor condition but definitely holding what is left of the timbers in place. There are three types of landscaping timbers you can purchase: Pre-treated natural wood. The timbers are all rotten and come apart in pieces. I have removed approximately 80 feet of the rotted timbers to make room for shed and patio. You can see the rebar spiked through the steps into the ground is holding them in place, even the rotten one although it may have contributed to the rot. Note that the second step in the picture is spongy and collapses when stepped on. I do not know how long any of them have been in the ground here in the Pacific Northwest but all the wood is in poor condition. Most are drilled and held in place with #4 rebar. The house I purchased 2 years ago was built in 1989 and has garden steps constructed of pressure treated timbers as well as shallow flower beds and other landscape features such as short terraces constructed with pressure treated timbers defining the perimeters. Although ostriches are not able to fly, they are able to run at speeds of up to 40 mph. The only bird that cannot fly is the ostrich. Are bumble bees a threat to hummingbirds? Finally, they tend to overheat quickly, which makes sustained flight difficult. Additionally, they have relatively weak breast muscles, which make it difficult to generate the lift needed to fly. Their wings are also relatively small and not built for flying. For one, they are too big and bulky to get airborne. What is the only bird that Cannot fly?Īssuming you are referring to the ostrich, there are a few reasons why this bird cannot fly. The bee hummingbird is also an important pollinator, helping to transfer pollen from flower to flower as it feeds on nectar. Despite its tiny size, the bee hummingbird is a feisty creature, known to aggressively defend its territory from larger birds. The bee hummingbird is the smallest bird in the world, measuring just 2.24 inches in length and weighing less than a tenth of an ounce. Related – Hummingbird vs woodpecker Which of the following statements about the bee hummingbird is true? So go ahead and plant some flowers that attract bees – your hummingbirds will thank you for it! There’s no need to worry about bees if you’re hoping to attract hummingbirds to your yard! These tiny birds are actually quite fearless when it comes to other insects, and they will happily feast on nectar while bees buzz around them. Will hummingbirds come if bees are around? The bee hummingbird feeds on nectar, while the hummingbird feeds on nectar and insects. The bee hummingbird has a wingspan of 2.4 inches (6 cm), while the hummingbird has a wingspan of 3.5-4.3 inches (9-11 cm). The bee hummingbird is found in Cuba and the Bahamas, while the hummingbird is found in North, Central, and South America. The bee hummingbird is the smallest bird in the world, while the hummingbird is a medium-sized bird. What are the differences between a hummingbird and a bee hummingbird? Can bees eat out of hummingbird feeders?.Are bumble bees a threat to hummingbirds?.Which of the following statements about the bee hummingbird is true?.Will hummingbirds come if bees are around?.What are the differences between a hummingbird and a bee hummingbird?.These tiny nests can be found in the smallest of places, including literally on the ends of clothespins. Occupying no more than an inch of space, a nesting hummingbird lays eggs the size of a green pea. With tiny bodies comes tiny nests – a bee hummingbird’s domicile is made predominantly from lichen, bark and even little scraps of cobweb. They feed mostly on nectar but may be enticed to nibble on an insect or spider too. Their slender, long bill is well-suited for nectar sipping. Fact: the bee hummingbird is a critical part of their local ecosystem – one bee hummingbird may help pollinate up to 1,500 flowers in a typical day of feeding. And that rapid, busy, wing-motion is in fact attached to a busy body (much like a busy bee). Living mostly in Cuba and some small surrounding islands, these tiny birds beat their wings an astonishing 80 times per second! The speed at which the bee hummingbird flaps its wings is so fast that the motion is imperceptible to the human eye, and in flight the bee hummingbird is barely more than a blur to onlookers. The IUCN, who monitors species populations world-wide has moved the bee hummingbird from its lowest warning level “least concerned” to the first elevated concern marker: “near threatened”. They are also blessed with bright iridescent coloring of red, blue and green. With weight in a range between 0.056 and 0.067 ounces (1.6-1.9 g), these small birds are easily mistaken for insects, and are in fact not much bigger than the honey-making bugs for which they are named. Exactly how small do you have to be to earn that distinction? No larger than 2 and a half inches long at most, with many birds no bigger than 2 inches total. The bee hummingbird is the smallest extant bird species on the face of the earth – extant being the opposite of extinct, that is to say, there are no living species of birds in the world smaller than the bee hummingbird. The menus are really the only graphics that matter, and overall they feel quite clean. I found myself lowering the graphic settings, and you would be wise to do so as well. The more leagues you have in the game, the more graphic assets that need to be loaded and the slower the game is. Management games like this are essentially just spreadsheet managers, so better graphics can often actually be a detriment. Graphically, Pro Basketball Manager 2022 is nothing special, but I wasn’t expecting it to be. Still, once you figure out the system, it at least seems to make sense. Other sports management games like the Football Manager series do an incredible job of teaching the strategic aspects to players, so Pro Basketball Manager 2022 has some work to do in that regard. I’m sure part of that is an intentional decision to put more parity into the game, but the learning curve for players can make the game feel pretty inauthentic at times. Even when coaching the USA National Team against Puerto Rico, a game that should be a massive blowout win for team USA, I found my team struggling to create shots and use their skill to their advantage. There are plenty of options for the player to mess around with, but it is one of those things that feels incredibly difficult to master. If I were to criticize anything in Pro Basketball Manager 2022, it would be the way tactics are handled. That said, it is nice to be able to have real names to go off of. I spent most of my time playing without using that, just to see how the base game felt without any mods, and I never found it too distracting. You can also download community mods that replace the fake league, team, and player names with their authentic names. There was a massive amount of attention paid to creating players in-game, and that attention to detail is very appreciated. The players feel like their real-life counterparts when it comes to their play styles and statistics. It’s a little on the nose and feels pretty tacky, but it’s at least better than using random name generators. The first thing I noticed was that none of the NBA teams are licensed, and players have been renamed to things like Stephen Curri (instead of Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors) and LeBron Jamas (instead of LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers). One big downside to having all of those teams available is that there are very few licenses available in the base game. Want to become the next Steve Kerr in the NBA? Feel free! The options are seemingly limitless, with hundreds of teams available to coach. Want to only coach in the Serbian league? Go for it. It can be a bit overwhelming at first, but thankfully you can limit your game to include only the leagues you want. Pro Basketball Manager 2022 features 160 playable competitions-including 25 international competitions, 11 continental competitions, 12 female competitions, and over 40 national cups-spread across 55 countries. What really makes Pro Basketball Manager 2022 stand out is the sheer amount of available basketball teams. However, the content in the game is good enough that a community should build over time, and that will only make the onboarding process for new players even easier. The depth can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming without a massive Steam Workshop to help guide new players. You’ll spend time tinkering with in-game tactics as well as hiring the right staff to take your team to the next level. From scouting players to managing trades and contracts, Pro Basketball Manager 2022 is about as deep a management game as it gets. Enter Pro Basketball Manager 2022, which allows you to take control of every single aspect of your basketball team. While franchises like NBA2K and EA’s NBA Live aim to give an authentic basketball experience, they lack depth when it comes to management. The franchise started in 2014 and is really the only player in the race to be the best basketball management simulator. Pro Basketball Manager 2022 is the latest in a long line of basketball management games from Umix Studios. Harris said in a Biden Administration, foreign policy would be based on longstanding relationships. While foreign policy was barely discussed in the presidential debate, Pence and Harris engaged in a substantive exchange about the United States’ standing in the world. “This is a part of a pattern of Donald Trump’s,” she said, calling out Trump’s reference to Mexicans as “rapists,” his proposed “Muslim ban,” and of his comments after the white supremacist riots in Charlottesville, where Trump said there were “very fine people on both sides.” U.S. She added that this was not the first time Trump has emboldened those who hold racist views. “Last week the President of the United States took a debate stage in front of 70 million Americans and refused to condemn white supremacists,” Harris said. She then criticized Trump for his treatment of racial issues over the years, including at last week’s presidential debate when Trump did not condemn the Proud Boys, a far-right extremist group, and instead told them to “stand back and stand by”-a message that was taken by the group as encouragement. Harris, shaking her head, hit back by emphasizing her record as a prosecutor. When asked whether justice was done in the case of Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old Black EMT who was killed by Louisville police officers earlier this year, Pence said his heart breaks for her family but “I trust our justice system.” He added that he and President Trump have fought for criminal justice reform. Harris and Pence clashed over the issues of police violence and the country’s reckoning on racial justice this year. Moderate Susan Page of USA Today declined to follow up with Pence, instead pivoting to ask Harris about the divisive nature of politics right now. Tonight, when Pence was asked a similar question, he too declined to answer directly, instead insisting that he and Trump would win the election-so the point was moot. Trump raised eyebrows during last week’s debate when he declined to commit on a peaceful transfer of power if Biden prevailed in November.
